knit1sew1 is taking a short break
The textile art known as freeform crochet and/or knitting uses a number of creative techniques, a wide variety of stitches and yarns, to produce products without a conventional pattern. The most common technique is called Scrumbling, meaning, making things up as you go along. Scumbles are fabric pieces or sections, which are then joined together to create wearable art.
Freeform differs from traditional crochet and knitting in that a textured fabric is created in pieces and then sewn together to form the product as opposed to following a set linear pattern.
My versions of freeform concentrate on producing interesting textured fabrics, using a variety of yarns and stitches. I like to limit my colour palette, allowing the handmade fabric to speak for itself.
